How to make the angels pray for you?

Isn't it common that our fellow brothers and sisters ask us to do dua for them?

We reply to them, "Insha Allah surely I will make dua"; However, Do we really make dua for our fellow brothers and sisters? If we knew the echoing benefit of doing it, would we do it even when it is not asked? Insha Allah, surely we will… Here is the reason: Abu Dharr reported that Allaah's Messenger (SallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: There is no believing servant who supplicates for his brother behind his back (in his absence) that the Angels do not say: The same be for you too. Muslim

How is Du'aa answered?

  1. Allah grants the person what he asks for as he asks for it right away.
  2. Allah, instead, removes a calamity in the future of that person, similar to what he asked for.
  3. Allah saves it for him for the Hereafter.

The Most Excellent Manner of Seeking Forgiveness

So from Shaddaad ibn Aws from the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, that he said, The noblest and most excellent manner of seeking forgiveness is that the servant says:

`O Allaah, You are my Lord. None has the right to be worshipped except You. You created me, and I am Your slave/worshipper. And I am faithful to my covenant and my promise as far as I am able. I seek Your refuge from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge before You all the favours that You have bestowed upon me. And I confess all my sins to You. So forgive me, since none can forgive sins except You.’

This wording occurs in one of the two narrations brought by Bukhaaree.

The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam said, Whoever says it in the day, with firm conviction in it, and dies in that day before evening – then he is from the people of Paradise. Whoever says it in the night, with firm conviction in it, and he dies before the Morning -then he is from the people of Paradise.”

The scholars count this hadeeth as one of the narrations both for the night and for the day – one of the adhkaar that should be said in early morning (sabaah), between dawn and sunrise, and at the start of the evening (masaa). Whoever says it and dies in that day, before evening, will enter Paradise. Similarly, whoever says it at night, and then dies before morning, will enter Paradise. Paradise is guaranteed for him.

This tremendous hadeeth of Shaddaad ibn Aws is reported by al-Bukhaaree in his Saheeh in the Book of Supplications, under the title: `Chapter: The most excellent manner of seeking forgiveness.’

He also quotes it in a second place in the same Book under the title:`Chapter: What to say when one gets up in the (early) morning.’ This shows that Imaam al-Bukhaaree (rahimahu`Allaah) holds that, in the saying of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam , “The most excellent manner of seeking forgiveness …” to the end of the hadeeth, there is proof that this is indeed the best wording for seeking forgiveness and the wording that is most complete.

When we study and reflect upon these words and what they contain, with regard to all aspects of supplication: humble submission, humility, ones abject poverty and need before Allaah, acknowledgement of His favour and blessings, and the fact that none forgives sins except Him-when we consider this, then it becomes clear to us that the wording of this hadeeth is very great and that it indeed deserves its description by the Prophet as, “The noblest/most excellent manner of seeking forgiveness.”

Furthermore, this is the only hadeeth of the noble Companion Shaddaad ibn Aws that is reported by al-Bukhaaree in his Saheeh, and it is a noteworthy fact that he reports it twice. This is a point of benefit for the science of hadeeth and, although Muslim excludes it, it is also reported by some of the compilers of the Sunan, such as an-Nasaaee and at-Tirmidhee with wordings that also show the importance of learning this manner of seeking forgiveness. In a narration of at-Tirmidhee the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Shall I not guide you to the most excellent manner of seeking forgiveness?” And, in a narration of an-Nasaaee he said, “Learn the most excellent manner of seeking forgiveness.” This shows that learning this wording for seeking forgiveness from Allaah, the Perfect and Most High, was encouraged by the Prophet.sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam.”

Du’a is the essence of worship

Allah Ta’ala has clearly stated in the Qur’an the purpose of creating mankind:

وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ

“And I have not created the Jinn or the mankind except to worship Me”

[Surah adh-Dhariyaat – 51:56]

It is evident from this verse that the purpose of our creation was so that we could submit to Allah Ta’ala and worship Him in the many ways He has shown us.
The mercy of Allah is such that He made Islam a complete way of life for us and has made worshiping easy by creating Direct forms of worship and Indirect forms.

The earning of a livelihood, eating, family life and socialising are examples of our daily lifestyles, yet Allah has made it possible for these to be worships also. On the other hand, the five prayers, charity, fasting and pilgrimage are just a few examples of direct worship.

Nevertheless, there is an act of worship which has been proclaimed by our beloved Prophet صلي الله عليه و سلم to be the core and essence of worship. He صلي الله عليه و سلم has said:

“Du’a is the essence of worship”

[Sunan Tirmidhi]

And in a Qur’anic verse Allah states:

فَادْعُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ

“So call upon Allah making your worship pure for Him”

[Surah Ghaafir – 40:14]

Du’a, which is known in the English language as supplication, is the core and essence of worship. In other words, it is the core and essence of the reason for which we were created. There are many qualities in supplicating to Allah and many rewards for it and therefore it has been held in such high rank in the religion of Islam. So much so, that a person who fails to supplicate to Allah becomes deserving of the anger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah صلي الله عليه و سلم said:

من لم يسئل الله يغضب عليه

“The person who does not ask from Allah (supplicates); Allah Ta’ala becomes angry with him”

[Sunan Tirmidhi]

It is apparent from just these two Ahadeeth that the status of supplication (Du’a) in Islam is exalted. It is an act which Allah loves and is the dearest act in his sight:

‏ليس شيء أكرم على الله تعالى من الدعاء

“There is nothing dearer to Allah Ta’ala than Du’a”

[Sunan Tirmidhi]

Therefore, the act of supplicating to Allah is an important one and one that requires much awareness. It is an act that contains the many qualities loved by Allah Ta’ala and therefore is dearest to him from all the other acts.

Du’a is an act where a servant turns towards his Lord, Allah, and begs Him for all his needs and also for the needs of others. It is an act within which the servant shows great humility, humbleness and need towards Allah Ta’ala. These qualities are also mentioned in the Qur’an in an extremely exquisite manner:

“And the slaves of ‘The Most Merciful’ are those who walk upon the earth with humbleness. And those who spend their nights for their Lord in prostration and on their feet (in prayer). And those who say, ‘O our Lord! Turn away from us the punishment of Hell; indeed its punishment is torturous”

[Surah al-Furqan – 25:63-65]

In these final verses of Surah Furqan, Allah Ta’ala mentions the qualities of those of His creations which He personally classes as the “Servants of Rahmaan.”

If we pay special consideration to these verses then we can deduce that within each quality there is the quality of humbleness. In actual fact, when Allah say’s refers to these people as His slaves it shows the first signs of humbleness. The slave of any person is humble and submissive to Him. He does as He is told and is obedient towards His master. Similarly, walking upon the earth with humbleness reflects the same quality. Further on, Allah Ta’ala mentions that when ignorant people talk to them they say words of peace and walk away. This means that they are not arrogant or proud in replying back or making their point known. Instead they are humble enough to walk away and say words of peace.

In the next verse Allah mentions another quality of these special servants of His as being the ones who spend their nights in prostration and prayer. This is an indication of humbleness, where the servant worships Allah in the night where no one can see him and is humble towards Allah. However, despite this great worship they supplicate to Allah asking Him to save them from the fire of hell showing a great sign of humbleness, that despite their worship they are still humble and fear the hellfire.

These verses, and those that follow it, clearly indicate to us that Allah loves the quality of humbleness. So much so, that the Prophet صلي الله عليه و سلم has told us that whoever becomes humble for the sake of Allah Ta’ala then Allah will raise the rank and status of such a person and a person that adopts pride is a person who is trying to take the quality of Allah and for that Allah shall throw him in the hellfire.

This quality is mentioned in another verse that refers to supplicating to Him:

ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ

“Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret. He likes not the aggressors.”

[Surah al-A’raaf – 7:55]

Another quality which is loved by is that His servants are dependant towards Him. He loves that His servants turn towards Him and ask only from Him. Allah states:

“O people! You stand in need of Allah but Allah is free of all needs, worthy of all praise.”

[Surah al-Fatir – 35:15]

Besides these two qualities there are many other qualities that lie within supplicating to Allah.

1. Faith

Whilst supplicating the believer has faith in Allah although He has never seen Him. He also has the faith that it is Allah that provides and gives.

2. Belief (Tawakkul)

Different from having ‘faith’ in Allah, a believer has this understanding that He should only ask from Allah and it is only Allah that provides for Him.

“And invoke Him only making your religion sincere to Him”

[Surah al-A’raaf – 7:29]

3. Communication

During supplication a believer is in communication with Allah Ta’ala and Allah Ta’ala finds it a pleasure when His servants turn towards Him and ask from Him.

Allah states:

“And your Lord said: “Invoke Me, I will respond to your invocation. Verily! Those who scorn My worship they will surely enter Hell in humiliation!”

[Surah Ghaafir – 40:60]

4. Tears

Allah loves those of His slaves that turn to Him with tears in their eyes and ask from Him in the humblest of manners. It is, as mentioned, a quality of His beloved servants.

5. Closeness to AllahAllah has stated:

وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لِي وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا بِي لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ

“And when My slaves ask you concerning Me, then I am indeed near to them. I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me. So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.”

[Surah al-Baqarah – 2:186]

In summary, Du’a (supplicating to Allah) is an act of worship that has been classed as the core of entire worship due to the many qualities it possesses. A person who supplicates to Allah in its true sense and method will become a close servant of Allah who will encompass the many characteristic Allah Ta’ala seeks in His slaves.

Du’a can be the weapon and strength of a Muslim or it can lead to His destruction. Allah loves those who turn to Him and ask from Him and is angered with those who turn away from Him.

There are many verses in the Qur’an as well as many Ahadeeth that refer to the act of supplicating to Allah and as to how Allah responds to the supplications of His slaves. These verses show us that at the time of supplication a servant is drawn close to Allah due to him communicating to Allah. And the one who remembers Him is remembered by Him.

May Allah give us all the true understanding of the status of Du’a and its importance in every Muslim’s life. May He give us the inclination to seek from Him alone and to seek from Him often. Aameen.

My Sins Prevent My Dua

At night i pray i beg and i say
forgive me o Allah guide me to the way

the way of the Salaf pure was there faith
as they supplicated by night
the reply came by day

o Allah forgive me my sins prevent my dua

i ask Allah for guidance, health and prosperity
yet when i look at myself were is the piety
surrounded by temptation i fail to resist
yet from my wants and needs i have a list

An answer from Allah is what i seek to attain
yet despair and sorrow is what i gain

o Allah forgive me my sins prevent my dua

from day to day i ask Allah "why am i not answered"?
its simple really "o Allah forgive me" i have not uttered
simple are these words yet with Conviction and scencirity
will lead to joy, happiness and an end to misery

some say Allah is merciless
then watch him shower his forgiveness

o Allah now u have forgiven me i shall ask of you no more.

The Qunoot Collection

By Maktabah Sound Studio

Dua is one of the strongest weapons of the Believer. This tear-jerking audio set is a collection of Qunoot Dua’s made by various Imams from around the world.

“The Believers, Men and Women, are Supporters and Protectors of one another. They command Al-Ma’ruf and forbid Al-Munkar, they perform Salat and give the Zakat, and Obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah will have his Mercy on them. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.” (At-Taubah: 71)

The Qunoot is recited at times of hardship, difficulties and when the Ummah has been affected by calamities. Usually the Imaam will recite it after the ruku and it is Sunnah for the followers to follow
By stretching out their hands in front of their chest (as in du'a) praying that Allah (SWT) alleviate the calamities from the Muslims.

The current Crusade against the Muslims is evidently clear from the atrocities committed against them in Iraq, Palestine, Kashmir and Chechnya.

The Qunoot Collection CD 1 Muhammed al-Muhaysanee was arrested after making this dua..

Our World

Every morning on every news flash
I hear the sorrow of the world
It seems like everybody's lost and
Scared trying to make sense of it all
And as I travel to and fro, so many faces pass me by
I see lonely hearts living lonely lives just biding their time
And while we call ourselves civilized, many people living empty lives
As they drone their way through day and night

I pray for our world, I pray for every child
I pray for our world to be filled with smiles
Like the colours of a rainbow and not just black and white
I pray for our world to be filled with light
I pray for all of us, to choose the path that's right
To believe in Allah every day of our lives

I
n the evening on the TV news, I see images of war.
I see brother killing brother with no consequence at all.
And while those who claim to be leaders, sell us tales of deceit.
But Allah alone know in their hearts what they reveal and conceal.
And while we call ourselves civilized,
We go on killing human lives
Too caught up in our own web of lies

Every mother, every father, every daughter, every son
Don't you see, that the answer lies only with the One

Syedul Astaghfar

Narrated Shaddad Bin Aus:

The Prophet said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is: 'Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta, Anta Khalaqtani wa ana abduka, wa ana 'ala ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, A'udhu bika min Sharri ma sana'tu, abu'u Laka bini'matika 'alaiya, wa Abu Laka bidhanbi faghfirli innahu la yaghfiru adhdhunuba illa anta." The Prophet added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."

Bukhari,Volume 8, Book 75, Number 318.

Dua For Forgiveness Of Our Ingratitude

O Allah, that Ummat, for whom so many sacrifices were made; today that Ummat is found in discos, in cinemas, in theatres, in casinos, on porn sites, reading filthy magazines and novels,in adultery and fornication, in theft, in fraud, in rape and in other crimes.
O Allah, a large number from the Ummah do not have Salaah in their lives; a large number do not have Zakaat, fasting and Haj in their lives.
O Allah, the beautiful cultural lifestyle that Rasulullah (SAW) left for us, has been forsaken by us and by our family members.
O Allah, Nabi’s e teachings are no where to be seen in our homes, in our businesses and in our dealings with people.
O Allah, when our Nabi is informed, that : ‘That Ummat for whom so much of your blood was shed; that Ummat for whom you cried so much, …that Ummat has no concern for your blood and your tears…’ O Allah, then how much of pain and injury we must be causing to Your Beloved Nabi …
O Allah, even in his mubarak city, we do not give up sins. Just a few metres from the resting-place of Rasulullah (SAW), in hotels and homes, the filthiest of films can be viewed, the filthiest magazines and newspapers can be read…
O Allah, just a few metres from his Raudha Mubarak and a few metres from the Ka’batullah, in the foyers and rooms of hotels and in homes, the filthiest music can be heard, and the filthiest television programmes can be watched….
O Allah, those very things which were hated in his sight, those very things which he disliked and abhorred, those are the things which have become beloved in our sight…
O My Beloved Allah, the cause of Rasulullah’s e pain and injury in his time were the Mushrikeen, the Yahud and the Munafiqeen. O Allah, but today, we, who are the claimants of Your Ishq and the Ishq of Rasulullah (SAW), are the cause of pain and injury to my Beloved Rasul e.
O Allah, that Ummat for whom Rasulullah (SAW) shed so much of his blood, for whom the blood of the Sahabah was shed, that Ummat for whom so many sacrifices were made… O Allah, that Ummat has become ‘Yateem’.
…There is no one to pass a hand of affection and love over their heads anymore. Even the Muslims are unconcerned about the plight of so many brothers and sisters around the world – in Kashmir, in Palestine, in Afghanistan, in Chechniya, in Kosova, in Bosnia, in Iraq and in India.

I Cry And Weep Before My Beloved

"I cry and weep before my Beloved, for that appears well pleaseing to Him And in both worlds our crying and sorrowful sighs are loved byHim.Blessed is that eye that cries in the remembrance of the BelovedAnd blessed is the heart that is embroiled in His love. For as long as the babe does not cry, milk does not flow forth from mother breastsAnd as long as the clouds don't shed raindrops, the garden does not become green. From the 'crying' of the clouds, the garden becomes green and fertile. And as much as the candle cries, so much it increases its light. And where tears flow, mercy prevails.Allah equates the tears of the sinner in grief To the blood flowing from a martyr.Crying and weeping is a great wealth. And the Mercy of Allah is a great blessing. The wealth of this world consists of gold and silver. The capital in Allah's sight is Love and two crying eyes."

Lamps of the Prophethood

" O Lord, praise to You! You are the light of the heavens and the earth and all that dwell therein. Praise to You! You are the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that dwell therein. Praise to You! You are the truth, and Your promise is true, and Your word is true, and Your meeting is true, and the Garden is true, and the Fire is true, and the Prophets were true, and Muhammad is true, and the Hour is true! O Allah, to You I commit myself, and in You I believe and place my trust, and unto You I turn in repentance, and for You I fight, and through You I pass judgment. Forgive me my sins, past and future, open and hidden. You are my God; there is no God but You! "

Bismillah. Allahumma jannibnash-shaytan. Wa jannibish-shaytana-ma razaqtana.
