The heart in which love and compassion for all living beings resides

A fakir once set out on a long journey, carrying with him a bundle filled with bread to eat on the way. At the end of the first day on the road he came to a small mosque, and there he rested for the night. Resuming his journey early the next morning, he walked at a brisk pace for about ten miles and then decided to have a bite to eat. But when he opened his bundle, he found that his bread was full of ants. “Ah, that is too bad,” he thought. “For I have taken these poor ants a long way away from their home in that mosque. How they must be longing to see their parents, children and friends." Filled with solicitude for the welfare of the ants, the fakir retraced his steps and took the ants back to their home in the little mosque. “The heart in which love and compassion for all living beings resides, can have no room for seeking after personal pleasures.”

Ya Ommi O Mother

your mother bore you for nine months, she watched her feet swell, she struggled to climb stairs, she got breathless quick, she bore excruciating pain.

she suffered many sleepless nights, she became your nurse your chef
and she became your teacher, your cleaner

she became your launderette, she became your friend all time you need true friend, she became every thing for you.

she struggled for you but not once did she see it as a struggle.
Not once did she develop regrets.

after all this how we bore of her

how we say 'uff' mom?

human body can bear only up to 45 Del (Unit) of pain.
But at the time of giving birth, a woman feels up to 57 Del of pain.
This is similar to 20 bones getting fractured at a Time.

remember this all your life you can’t pay back to your mom, what had she done for you be a part her joy and pain 'love your mom till the end of your life..

Falling in Love

Ibn Hazm stated “Love is neither disapproved by religion, nor prohibited by the law (i.e. the Shariah), for every heart is in Allah’s hand.”

Love is something that one can’t control and something that one becomes liable for only once actions are taken by choice. It is very natural to have preferences in love to a different degree. As the saying goes that when people fall in love, they fall out of character. Love is one of the secrets of Allah’s creation. The Prophet (SAW) recommended people to love their lovers moderately as one day may come that they hate this person distinctly (and vice-versa as one should hate their enemy moderately). Rasoolullah (SAW) sympathized with the lovers. Take, for example, the case of the story of Bareeah:

Rasoolullah (SAW), telling his uncle al-Abbaas the story of Mugheeth and Bareerah, said “O Abbas! Isn’t it amazing how much Mugheeth loves Bareerah and how much Bareerah hates Mugheeth?” Bareerah was the slave of Mugheeth. Mugheeth freed Bareerah and in return, Bareerah ended her relationship with Mugheeth. Heart-broken, Mugheeth asked Rasoolullah (SAW) to intercede on his behalf to Bareerah. When Rasoolullah (SAW) interceded on Mugheeth’s behalf, Bareerah asked Rasoolullah (SAW) if he was interceding or commanding her to get back together with Mugheeth. Once Rasoolullah (SAW) answered he was interceding, she refused to continue her relationship with Mugheeth.

There are two theories to discuss that deal with love. For the love-tank theory, consider the fact that when driving a car, women tend to refill their gas tank when half the tank is empty so as to be sure they won’t run out of gas. Men, on the other hand, tend to wait until the gas tank is almost empty before refilling their gas tanks. Relationships tend to be the same way in that women get worried much earlier than men and they need to be reassured that the relationship is going well.

The second theory is the love-bank theory. Consider the idea that a man and woman both open an account with each other at the point of marriage. Women tend to have an accurate record of their bank account and they know what they have deposited and withdrawn. Men, on the other hand, generally do not keep track of the amount in their account as they attempt to take mental notes. However, as checks do bounce, there are times that men forget about somethings. Therefore, it is important that one must deposit whenever withdrawing (i.e. demanding) from the love-bank accounts.

Love is certainly not indecent. It is something completely natural and acceptable in Islam. However, times do exist when love is harmed. These reasons include the exploitation of love, infidelity, acts of disrespect, gossip, and even separation for a long time. What is necessary to make a good marriage work? Love and mercy are the key ingredients as love usually dominates at first, but mercy continues a marriage.

“And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquility with them; and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): Verily in that are signs for those who reflect.” (Translation of the Meaning of the Holy Quran 30:21)

Status of Two Who Love One Another for the Sake of Allah

Many hadith describe the status of two people who love one another for the sake of Allah (subhanahu wa ta`ala), and describe the high position in Paradise which He has promised them and the great honour which He will bestow upon them on the Day when mankind is resurrected to meet the Rabb of the Worlds:

Among them is the hadith which describes the seven whom Allah will shade on the Day when there is no shade but His: “…a just leader; a youth who grows up worshipping Allah; a man who is deeply attached to the masjid; two men who love one another for the sake of Allah, meeting for His sake and parting for His sake; a man who is called by a beautiful woman and says, I fear Allah’; a man who gives charity in secret such that his left hand does not know what his right hand is doing; and a man who remembers Allah when he is alone and his eyes fill with tears.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

The two who love one another for the sake of Allah are clearly shown to be among those whom Allah will shelter with His shade and upon whom He will shower His mercy and kindness. What a great honour! It is enough honour for those who love one another for the sake of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta`ala) that their Almighty Rabb will greet them on the Day of Resurrection and say to them: “Where are those who loved one another for My glory? Today I will shade them in My shade on the Day when there is no shade but Mine.” (Muslim)

Such is the magnificent honour and tremendous reward that will be bestowed upon those who truly loved one another for the sake of Allah, on that awesome Day.

Love for the sake of Allah is difficult

Love for the sake of Allah, and not for the sake of anything else in this life which is filled with greed, desires and interests, is very difficult, and none can attain it except the one who is pure of heart, for whom this world is as nothing compared to the pleasure of Allah. It is not surprising that Allah should give them a status and blessing which is commensurate with their position in this world, above whose concerns they have risen. We find proof of this in the hadith of Mu’adh who said that the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:“Allah said: ‘Those who love one another for My glory, will have mimbars (pulpits) of light, and the Prophets and martyrs will wish that they had the same.” [Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said it is a hasan sahih hadith]

Allah gives to those who love one another for His sake a gift which is even greater than this status and blessing: that is His precious love which is very difficult to attain. This is proven by the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (radhiallahu `anhu) in which the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:

“A man went to visit a brother of his in another village. Allah sent an angel to wait for him on the road. When the man came along, the angel asked him, ‘Where do you intend to go?’ He said, ‘I am going to visit a brother of mine who lives in this village.’ The angel asked, ‘Have you done him any favour (for which you are now seeking repayment)?’ He said, ‘No. I just love him for the sake of Allah.’ The angel told him, I am a messenger to you from Allah, sent to tell you that He loves you as you love your brother for His sake.”‘ (Muslim)

What a great love, that raises a man to a position where Allah (subhanahu wa ta`ala) loves him and is pleased with him!

The impact of pure love on society

The teaching of the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) states that the better of two brothers who love one another for the sake of Allah is the one who loves his brother more. The Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:

“No two men love one another, but the better of them is the one whose love for his brother is greater.”[Reported by Bukhari in al-Adab al-Mufrad]

Islam goes even further in spreading love in the rightly guided Muslim society by telling the Muslim that if he loves his brother, he should tell him. The Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: “If a man loves his brother, let him tell him that he loves him.” [Reported by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, who said it is a sahih hadith]

The Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) understood the impact of this strong, pure love in building societies and nations, so he never let any occasion pass without advocating this love and commanding the Muslims to announce their love for one another, in order to open hearts and spread love and purity among the ranks of the Ummah.

Anas (radhiallahu `anhu) said that a man was with the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam), when another man passed by. The first man said, “O Messenger of Allah, indeed I truly love this man.” The Prophet asked him, “Have you let him know that?” He said, “No.” The Prophet said, “Tell him.” He caught up with him and told him, “Truly I love you for the sake of Allah (subhanahu wa ta`ala),” and the man said, “May Allah love you who loves me for His sake.” [Reported by Abu Dawud, with a sahih isnad]

The Sahabi Mu’adh ibn Jabal (radhiallahu `anhu) began to spread this pure love among the Muslims throughout the Muslim lands, telling them what he had heard from the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) about the great reward that Allah had prepared for those who loved one another for His sake, and about His great love for them.

In al-Muwatta’, Imam Malik (rahmatullahi alaiyh) gives a report with a sahih isnad from Abu Idris al-Khulani who said: “I entered the masjid of Damascus, where I saw a young man who had a bright smile, and I saw the people gathered around him. When they disagreed on some matter, they referred it to him, and accepted his opinion. I asked who he was, and they told me, ‘This is Mu’adh ibn Jabal (radhiallahu `anhu).” Early the next day, I went to the mosque but I found that he had arrived even earlier than I. He was praying, so I waited until he had finished, then I approached him from in front, greeted him and said, ‘By Allah, I love you.’ He said, ‘For the sake of Allah?’ I said, ‘For the sake of Allah’. He repeated his question, ‘For the sake of Allah?’ and I said, ‘For the sake of Allah.’ So he took hold of my collar and pulled me towards him and said, ‘I have good news for you. I heard the Prophet say: “Allah Almighty says: ‘My love is granted to those who love one another for My sake, who visit one another for My sake, and who spend on one another for My sake.’”

Be Easy With The True Lovers

On the authority of al-Asma‘ī, that he said, “I was once walking in the village when I came across a stone. Someone had written on it:

أيا معشر العشاق بالله خبروا **** إذا حل عشق بالفتى كيف يصنع
O lovers! By Allah, tell me! If a young man is overcome by love, what should he do?

So I wrote underneath it:يداوي هواه ثم يكتم سره **** ويخشع في كل الأمور ويخضع
Let him treat his desire, then conceal his secretAnd humble himself in every matter and submit (before his Lord)

I returned the next day and I found written underneath it:فكيف يداوي والهوى قاتل الفتى **** وفي كل يوم قلبه يتقطع
But how can it be treated when that desire fights the manAnd every day his heart is torn to pieces?!

So I wrote underneath it:إذا لم يجد صبراً لكتمان سره **** فليس له شيء سوى الموت أنفع
If he is unable to be patient with concealing his secret Then there is nothing for him except death that will benefit!

I then returned on the third day to find a young man lying dead at the stone. I said, ‘Lā hawla wa lā quwwata illā billāhil-‘Alī’l-‘Adhīm!’ and found that he had written before his death:سمعنا , أطعنا , ثم متنا فبلغوا **** سلامي إلى من كان للوصل يمنع

We have heard and we have obeyed; now we have died so tell everyoneMy salām to the one who prevented me from attaining her.
(Narrated by al-Abshīhī in al-Mustatrif, 1/410)

So dear brothers and sisters, next time we give advice to such people, just remember you’re dealing with hearts full of love not vessels full of stone.

"Love is neither disapproved by religion, nor prohibited by the law (shariah) ,for every heart is in Allah's hand." ~Ibn hazm.

When someone falls in love, all rationale goes out of the window, all common sense is discarded, family ties are walked over and best friends suddenly have become the ‘enemy’. It is a truly desperate state of affairs. “Love” a fragile emotion yet so strong and profound that it takes control of our every sense. ~Abu esa.

Love of Seclusion

It is related that some people said to Hasan al-Basri, “Oh Abu Saeed there is a man sitting behind a pillar here, whom we have never seen. Hasan al-Basri went to him and said, “Oh Abdullah, I see the love of seclusion has engulfed you. What prevents you from sitting with the people?”

He replied, “A matter which has averted my attention from the people”.

He then asked “So what prevents you from sitting with Hasan al-Basri?” He again replied, “A matter which has averted my attention from Hasan al-Basri and the people.”

Hasan al-Basri enquired about this affair which was keeping the man away. The man asserted, “In the morning I look at the blessings of Allah and at the sins I have committed. I then occupy myself thanking Allah for the blessings and repenting from my sins”.

Hasan al-Basri said to him, “Oh Abdullah you are more knowledgable and have better understanding than Hasan! Remain steadfast in your action.”

Living Together

“You cannot live alone. Do not live alone, as the wolf eats up the lone sheep, and Satan is close to the one who is alone and is farther from two who are together. So, if you live somewhere, live with at least one other person, and this one person should be righteous.

Friends are like a row of connected test tubes: if liquid overflows in one tube, the excess flows into the other tubes until there is an equal amount of liquid in all the tubes. Likewise, if you live with corrupt people, they will take away many of your good deeds, and you will decrease and decrease and decrease until you are all equal in status. You will definitely end up like these interconnected test tubes. A group of friends are all like each other, and the longer the friendship lasts, the closer the character and manners of each person in the group will be to the others. Do not believe that a good person can live for long with a corrupt person, unless the corrupt person improves and follows the example of the good person.

This is why you should look for the good people, and a friend is like a chain: he will either drag you into Paradise or drag you into Hell. He will either cause you problems or he will help you solve your problems…

After this, work on guarding your tongue, because most of the torture in Hell is because of the tongue: “And will people be dragged on their faces into Hell because of anything other than what their tongues have brought forth?”

After this, work on making good use of your time. Do not waste your time. Always try to bring about some benefit from your social gatherings. So, if you see people talking about food, drink, telling jokes, etc., tell them: ‘Guys, I read a story today to tell you about something that happened in Syria, or something that the Afghans did,’ or say: ‘What do you think about this hadith? I read the tafsir of this verse to tell you about,’ etc. Benefit them in this gathering, and occupy them with something that will benefit them. Sit down together and read the Qur’an, read the biographies of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) and the Companions, a simple explanation of the Qur’an such as ‘Tafsir al-Jalalayn’ - a simple, general explanation - and read a simple book of Fiqh, especially regarding how to pray. Read the entire section on how to pray, such as ‘Fiqh as-Sunnah.’ Read in detail how to make wudu’, because it doesn’t make sense to sit for thirty years not knowing the proper way of making wudu’, performing prayer, etc. - you pray while not knowing the fundamentals of the prayer and wudu’, and you do not know the details of optional fasting, etc. So, do all of this combined with good friends and a pure, truthful intention.

And stay away from women (and likewise, women should apply the same for men), as this is the source of all tribulation for those at your age, and in fact for those at any age. Stay from women who are forbidden for you. It is an obligation for you to stay away from them. Of course, all of the women in this land are forbidden for you. It is forbidden for you to look at them, it is forbidden for you to sit with them, it is forbidden for you to chat with them, and it is forbidden for you to be alone with them. The heart cannot bear these things because the glance is one of Iblis’s poisonous arrows. Whoever lowers his gaze from what Allah has forbidden will be given a sweetness by Allah that he will feel in his heart. But to look, to continue looking, and to allow this arrow to strike you in the heart - not just an arrow, but a poisonous arrow that poisons your heart - to let an arrow strike you day after day after day, this will make your heart weak and unable to face the problems of life. This is why you find a person who is drowning in desires to be weak-hearted…As for the heart of the believer, his heart is strong and he isn’t affected by anything. His heart is strenghtened by worship, and therefore does not become scared or shaky. As for the heart of the sinner, you see it shaking. Why? Because the arrows have killed him just like someone who has an ulcer in his stomach and cannot eat because of it.

Work for Allah and stick together, and the more you work for Allah, the more your souls will become strong and rise, and you will ascend rapidly upon the path of those who are ascending towards Allah. I advise you to recite the Qur’an everyday, because the Qur’an is like water for a plant. It is the life of the heart, and the water and life for the heart is the Qur’an…”
